Our editorial method

How Travel Literature researches books, cities and hotel bases.

What this edition covers

Travel Literature connects travel books and guidebooks with practical city planning. Alexandra Beaumont edits this English-language edition, beginning with Paris and Rome.

Hotel identity and facts

One hotel page represents one physical property. We compare the provider names, street addresses and property identifiers before linking to that hotel on Expedia and Trip.com. Differences in names and address formatting are preserved in our research records.

Room rates, availability and policies can change. The provider’s selected room offer governs the booking; readers should review it directly. We do not merge provider ratings or publish a fabricated personal-stay score.

Reading notes

Bibliographic details come from the publisher. We identify titles, authors, ISBNs and editions, distinguishing memoirs and cultural history from practical guidebooks. Our planning commentary does not present a publisher synopsis as a personal book review.

Personal experience

A personal-stay report will identify the supported visit. Research-based hotel notes are described as such. Alexandra’s role in this edition does not imply authorship of the domain’s former publications.

Sources and updates

Hotel notes and city pages link to their supporting sources and show an update date. Photograph sources and usage information appear on the photo-credits page.
